Open Studio provides three education sessions each year beginning in early October, early February and early May. Schedules, fees and course descriptions for all courses, workshops and sessions are posted as they become available, approximately 4 to 6 weeks prior to the start of the education session. Please review our Registration Policy and then click on the course you are interested in below for dates and further information. You may also download the entire schedule as a PDF document.

  • 8-week Courses in lithography, screenprinting, and etching are scheduled on Monday or Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 and cost $270.00 + $50.00 materials fee (prices and/or schedule are subject to change). All levels of experience are accommodated.

  • 4-week Power Printmaking Course introduces participants to basic print media: relief, etching, lithography and screenprinting. Basic materials are supplied and the fee is $160.00.

  • 4-week Open Sessions are geared towards people who have printmaking experience and is designed as a transition for students from classes to renting at the studio.

  • Weekend Workshops that focus on fun and easy to learn processes as well as more advanced techniques are also scheduled during each session. Prices vary.

  • Printmaking for Educators (offered in the summer only) is a course that introduces educators to a variety of printmaking techniques that can be incorporated into school art programs at various levels.

Another component of the Education Program is Open Studio’s one-on-one teaching scenarios arranged by the Technical Director to provide customized learning for individuals who wish to further their exploration of a particular print media outside of our standard classes. An Open Studio artist member or renter with a particular style of working or knowledge of a specific technique is paired up with the student for a minimum of 4 hours. A one-on-one scenario is often the best option for busy artists to acquire the knowledge and experience needed to further their practice or execute a project. Please forward inquiries to Jill Graham, Technical Director, at 416-504-8238.
