My work are explorations of geometric shapes and symbols structured against spaces that are activated by spontaneous marks.Assortments of these marks, with subtle colour shifts (though generally bold in chromaticity), are repeatedly layered in order to
achieve a rich painterly quality. Influenced primarily by the Canadian landscape, composites culled from a variety of Provinces, the work becomes an amalgamated abstraction of these multifarious places. Each of the images, in their modified states, has
references to land, great bodies of water and the horizon onto which they meet. The geometric shapes and symbols are organizational, providing both balance and contrast to the free expressiveness of these adapted environments.
