Catherine Heard is a graduate of the new Master of Visual Studies program at the University of Toronto. Since her graduation from the Ontario College of Art and Design in 1990, she has been producing sculptures and installations that are designed to simultaneously fascinate and repel. Heard’s exhibitions include Naked State, The Power Plant, Toronto, (1994); Gathering Shades, Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, (2002); Mask and Metamorphosis, Art Gallery of Hamilton, (2003); and Effigies, Cambridge Galleries, (2003) and a solo exhibition at the Centre d’Art Contemporain de Basse Normandie in 2006.
