Every year since 1984, Open Studio's Artist Proof Sale and Open House has been providing art lovers with the opportunity to purchase original, one-of-a-kind artists' proof prints at prices ranging from $50 - $300. Artist proof prints are works that record various stages of the development of an image, or represent the final state before the edition is printed. Hundreds of original works of art – including screenprints, etchings, lithographs and relief prints – are available over the course of the sale, in an amazing variety of artistic stylesby both established and up-and-coming artists from around Canada. The Artist Proof Sale always provides an excellent way to purchase affordable artwork while also supporting a good cause. The annual Artist Proof Sale and Open House is an important fundraiser for Open Studio, with fifty per cent of the sale price of each print going to Open Studio and fifty percent going to the artists.

Each year, on the opening night of the sale, the Preview and Open House kick off at 6:00 pm; at 6:30, the cash registers are opened for the art patrons who have been anxiously waiting to take home artworks by both old and new favourites. This is always a popular and busy event, with fierce competition for some prints. During 2009's Open House, guests enjoyed food, a cash bar and festivities, including printmaking demonstrations by special guest artists Robert Malinowski and Roula Partheniou. Every year, we also offer an exclusive range of original artists’ greeting cards, as well as Open Studio’s artist-designed playing cards and pins.
